How to Find Amazing Templates for Birthday Party Invitations

Let’s face it. With technology what it is today, there’s no need to buy boring, generic birthday invitations at the store. With all the online possibilities these days, you can use some amazing birthday party invitation sites to create awesome invites for your next party.

In this article, we’re going to take a look at how to do that and what some of the best sites are to create your next one. Let’s get going!

What do I write on a birthday invitation?

You want your invitation to look and feel like you!

Otherwise, you’d just go buy one of those generic Hallmark birthday invitation sets at the grocery store. But it also has to clear, and somewhat simply convey the party basics.  So you’ll want to make sure you include things like:

  • Who the invite is for
  • Date and Time
  • If there is an end time
  • Whether food will be served
  • Address of the party
  • If any sort of gate code is needed to get into the neighborhood

Of course, you’ll also want to ask for an RSVP so you can gauge how many people will attend. That’s never 100% accurate, but it gives you some idea. Make it easy for them to RSVP by including phone (mention whether it’s OK to text) and email.

I mentioned at the top to have it look and feel like you so it’s not generic. But avoid the temptation to use fonts that are cool-looking but super hard to read.

How can I make a birthday invitation for free?

The easiest way to create free invitations would be to search on Pinterest, download, and print.

But let’s face it. When you search for birthday invitation party templates, tons of stuff comes up; tens of thousands of things! Everything from quinceañera invitations to pool party invites.

And your needs or the time of year for your party might be totally different. Maybe you’re planning your husband’s big day and need something specific like 30th birthday invitations?

With Pinterest, you could search for hours and still not find what you need.

Plus, in the Pinterest search results, almost everything is for kids. What if you want invitations for adults? Being a Photoshop fan, I’ve also created my own birthday invitations from scratch and had great results. I just save the finished invite to a flash drive and take it to FedEx for printing.

Or you can even email to your FedEx account and they’ll have it ready for you.

But anytime you create one on a free program there is still a lot of time and printing costs on your end. Especially when you consider that most of us don’t have color laser printers and high-quality cardstock on hand.

What is the best online invitation maker?

I’ve checked out several of the online software options and websites, and I love Basic Invite!

You can get invites as low as .74 each, and they often run specials too! They have invites for every category you could think of:

How do I make an invitation?

With Basic Invite, if you’re making a birthday party invitation, from their top menu, select events.

From there, you’ll see lots of choices and you can select Birthdays.  This, in turn, will give you all their birthday invitation party templates. From that page, you can narrow down the awesome choices with options like:

  • Size
  • Color
  • Orientation
  • Photos
  • Type of event (first birthday, sweet 16, etc)
  • Gender
  • Theme (adults, kids, beach, etc)

You also have the option to upload your own design.

Once you’ve picked a design, just click on it. From there, you can plug in all the specifics. Click on the text boxes to swap the sample text for yours. Change colors if you like or specify if you want square invites, rounded, or some of the other options. Then select your paper choice and if you want a foil option and you’re done!

It’s just that easy!

Then specify how quickly you need them. If you get stuck, live chat is available too!

Wrapping up

Birthday party invitations have come a long way from the boring store-bought options your grandparents had to choose from.

With modern technology at our fingertips, you can literally have almost any design you can think of, created quickly and easily. You can print from home, or use an online option like Basic Invite.

And if you do, you’ll have an invitation that will blow your guests away. It will also be one to go in your keepsake book too!
