You’ve worked all day. And I mean, you’ve got up at 5 am, commuted to work, handled heavy accounts all day and then commuted the same route back home. It’s time for a shift, a change, and you want to break into a market that is entirely different from what you’re doing all day long.
Right now, you’re at the cusp of a change, and one of the best changes you could make would be to look into the industries primarily leaning towards women.
There are plenty of industries out there that are dominated by the girls, and it’s time you stepped out of your comfort zone and move into a lane that is unfamiliar.
Below, we’ve put together some of the jobs that you could look into that are different to what you’re doing now.
- Cleaning. It is a job that is primarily dominated by women, and there’s a misconception that men aren’t good at cleaning – at all. And yet those of you living on your own in apartments or houses manage to clean just fine. You could start by buying a Steamaster kit and getting some business cards mocked up. After this, build your website and get your brand out there. Go door to door with leaflets if you have to – there’s plenty of work out there for those who want to clean, and you’ll find lifting all your equipment easy enough!
- Hairdressing. Women have a knack for this because the majority of them are blessed with flowing locks. However, this doesn’t mean that you won’t do well at it – Nicky Clarke isn’t a woman and he does just great! If you’re worried about doing the hair of other women, then go for a barbering course and cut the hair of gentlemen!
- Secretarial Work. Ah, the sexism is rife in this area. Women are excellent at being organized, and so it always made sense for women to organize the offices of others. That doesn’t mean that you can’t do it. You can listen, organize and file just as well as anyone else. Take some courses in administration and get to know the ins and outs of certain office programs. You’ll be able to pick up work as a virtual assistant quite easily, and that means you can gain some experience, and then you can set yourself up to work on your own.
- Nursery Teacher. Have you been interested in education or childcare? And even if you haven’t, maybe you’re interested now! Get yourself enrolled and certified and give yourself the patience required to look after a lot of little children at once. It’s not an easy job, but you’re already a parent, right? Well, just multiply that one fireball in your house by twenty in a school setting. It’ll be great.
There are way more jobs out there that are considered to be “women’s” work, but you can be the guy who broke the stereotype if you want to – just make the decision about what to do!
