How Do People Find ‘the One’ in 2022?

For centuries, people all over the world have spent a large part of their lives looking for love. The reasons for this includes evolutionary factors – to find a partner to bear children with, as well as the desire for a lifelong mate to provide company.

Many people romanticize the idea of finding ‘the one’ and spend a lot of time searching for their perfect match to settle down with and possibly enter into marriage. Finding someone to love who will love you back, support you and prevent loneliness is an appealing notion. But how do you find your ideal partner in 2022?

With the world of dating looking a lot different than it did even a few short years ago, it can be tricky to know where to begin in the search for romance. This article will explore some of the most popular places to meet a potential mate.

At work

Many couples meet at work and it’s not difficult to see why. In the UK, the average worker spends nearly 40 hours per week working. And with collaborative projects commonplace across many industries, it’s no wonder people from all backgrounds form relationships with co-workers.

Another reason why employees are often attracted to each other is their shared interests. Chances are, if you’re working in a certain field or business, you chose that role because of your passion. So, it makes sense that someone would find their ideal partner within that setting.

Through mutual friends

Meeting a romantic partner through friends can make for a successful relationship for many reasons. Your friends are likely to know others similar to you so you might find you already have a lot in common. It’s also less risky than dating a total stranger and, if you go out as a group, it can mitigate any potential awkwardness.

Dating platforms

Whilst online dating sites have been around for a number of years, the past couple of years has seen their usage increase dramatically as lockdowns changed the way people date. Users now spend more time getting to know each other virtually before meeting in real life.

However, there is a downside to meeting a partner online. Research suggests that couples who meet online are statistically more likely to divorce in the first three years of marriage than those who meet socially.

Another rather unusual, and modern, way to meet a significant other is through a TV dating show. A recent study conducted by European lingerie specialists, Hunkemöller, found that the Netflix shows ‘Love is Blind’ and ‘Too Hot to Handle’ both boast success rates for couples of 33% and 30% respectively.

Out and about

Whilst we’ve already highlighted some of the most popular ways to meet a romantic partner, there are plenty of others. Finding the perfect match in a bar or club is still a viable option in 2022. Public transport, down the pub, in the park, at the supermarket or at an event can all be options when it comes to meeting a mate.

If you’re searching for love in 2022, don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re limited to online dating. With restrictions easing, there’s no better time to get out there and enjoy socializing and taking part in hobbies and activities – you never know when you might meet someone.
