How to Find Your Perfect Job

Finding a job that they love (or even like!) is something that many people struggle with. If you are currently undecided about what you should be doing to make a living, then these pointers should help a little in making that decision.

Think About Your Interests

Thinking about how you like to spend your time, and likewise, the things that you hate doing can give you a good indicator of the types of jobs that will or won’t be right for you.

If you are someone that has a keen interest in technology and computing, then an IT job could be just perfect for you.

If being outside in the fresh air and getting closer to nature is more your thing, then how about a job as a gardener to keep you out in the air each day, surrounded by an environment that you love?

Of course, not all interests and hobbies can be perfectly matched with a job, but thinking in this way is a good starting point for focusing your job search.

Even if you cannot find a job doing exactly what you want to in the beginning, seeking employment in an industry or within a company that matches your interests can be an excellent place to start.

Value Your Values

It’s much easier to fall in love with your job when you are working for a company that shares the same values as you.

Feeling like you are doing a job that is worthwhile and has a purpose is a great way to look forward to Monday mornings rather than dread them.

Conversely, working for a company that doesn’t have ethics and beliefs that match yours can make working for them pretty tough, particularly if you are needing to do things that you don’t believe in, or go against your values.

For these reasons, it is a good idea to research a company before you apply to work for them, that way you will get to know more about what they do, and you can make an informed decision on whether it is a business that you would be happy working for or not.

Perks of the Job

Most jobs nowadays come with some staff benefits package; the key is to do some research to see if these perks match the kinds of things that you are looking for as part of your workplace benefits.

If your main perk is free staff nights out each month, and you are not a fan of socializing, then this may not be the right benefits package for you.

Working 9 to 5

Trying to find a job when you are the primary carer for your kids or sick or elderly relatives can be tricky.

However, there are employers out there that strive to create a great work-life balance for their staff and understand that people have lives outside of work.

Another option could be to look into job-share positions or a part-time job that has the opportunity to work overtime.
