How to Keep Your Kids Healthy and Happy

When you send your kids to school, they will be spending a lot of time in the classroom. This is a breeding ground for bacteria and infections, but if you teach your kids healthy habits then there is no reason why they shouldn’t be able to safeguard themselves against this.

Hand Washing

Hand washing is quite possibly one of the most important ways that you can prevent the spread of illness. Show your child how important it is for them to wash their hands before they eat, after they go to the bathroom and even when they blow their nose.

This will reduce the chances of them getting sick and it will also give them a good foundation of personal hygiene.

Immune System

It’s possible for you to boost your child’s immune system for when they go to school.

If you want to do this then teach them what a healthy diet looks like and lead by example. Sure, it’s easy to put a pizza in the oven after a long day, but is it really good for you?

Absolutely not. Take the time to prepare healthy meals ahead of time and also exercise too. If you can do this as a family, then this will really help your child and it will also make it much easier for them to ward off viruses and infections.

Anxiety and Stress

Social pressure, tests, and even homework can easily cause your child a high amount of stress. Research has shown time and time again that stress can have a negative impact on your child’s health and in some instances, it can also lead to other issues later down the line.

If you want to help them then you need to teach them the importance of talking to people when they need help. If you don’t then they may end up bottling it up and this is the last thing that you want.

If you believe that there could be a reason why your child is experiencing stress at school then it helps to get to the underlying reason. For example, if they can’t hear properly then it may be worth consulting an audiologist.

Breakfast

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and for a very good reason. A balanced breakfast should always include protein, complex carbohydrates, and vitamins.

If you make sure that your child has all of this then you will be able to boost their brain function and you may even find that you can help them to maintain a steady amount of energy throughout the day too.

Make School Lunches Fun

It’s so important that you make healthy lunches fun and exciting.

Don’t be afraid to use colourful combinations of fruit and cut sandwiches into shapes too. When you do, you will be able to make your child way more interested in what they are eating. If you just don’t know how to jazz up your child’s lunch, then there are plenty of ideas online.
