Living Room Theatre Ideas

Living room theatres, also commonly named home cinema rooms can be a great asset to your home. This can be an extremely beneficial idea if you are a family who revolves a lot of your time around technology and watching TV, or if you have friends over often and need a cinematic space for entertainment purposes. This room tends to be a luxurious space and if you have intentions of creating a cinema room, we hope you have a relatively large living space to work with. Sizing is everything as the TV size must be in proportion with the room and seating to prevent any straining of the neck and eyes or cluttering. If you have a smaller living space, this does not mean that you need to rule out the idea of a home cinema, the proportion size will just need to be a lot smaller to accommodate and correspond with the space.

TV Screen

A home theatre would not be complete without your screen. Now, a screen can come in two different varieties and does not always need to come in the form of a flat-screen TV. Although homeowners may just see a TV as a TV, this is not always the case. If you are opting for a flat-screen TV, acknowledge will this be a normal TV or a smart TV? We would assume that in your home cinema, you will be using TV streaming services unless you would prefer to opt for the good old-fashioned DVD player, which we highly doubt. If you are investing in a new TV, we would recommend purchasing a smart TV as this device has streaming services built-in and it is a simple case of downloading apps to access them. LG has recently revealed the world’s largest smart TV at a whopping 325 inches so we don’t doubt that you will manage to find as big a TV size as you want when searching for your new TV. This is most likely to be mounted on the wall once it arrives. Do not hesitate the professionals at https://aerialandsatelliteexpress.co.uk for any TV wall mounting services.

TV projector

The alternative to a flat-screen TV would be a TV projector. TV projectors can come in mini forms and after we checked out Amazon, we realized that the pricing of these can be as low as £36 for a mini projector. For a living room theatre, we would suggest investing in a more expensive projector as this will ultimately affect the quality, and the projector quality may not be as high as a TV screen quality will be. However, if you would prefer a screen size over 100 inches, we would recommend opting for a projector. This will work out a lot easier and cheaper for the homeowner and the size can be adaptable and adjustable. Alongside this, invest in a projector screen, as the pure white screen will produce a greater quality image than a projector would against a blank painted wall. TV projectors are also said to produce an easier viewing experience due to the larger images, so perhaps you may find this is the most suitable option for your theatre space.

Seating

Now that the main aspects and focal points of the room have been addressed, it’s time to establish the next most important feature, the seating. This is completely down to you, and depending on the space and style of your home cinema, there is no right or wrong answer, we would only advise prioritizing comfort. Try to opt for large couches, armchairs, or beanbag chairs in either faux leather, which will be easier for cleaning purposes, or cinema reclining chair, which will be perfect for comfort preferences. Also, consider how many people are likely to be in your home cinema at once to analyze how much seating space you will require. Public cinema layouts offer cup holders in between seats which we all know comes in handy. We would advise replicating this in some way to prevent spillages in your living room theatre, and if cup holders are out of the equation why not invest in some small tables for guests to place their drinks and food on.

Speakers

Speakers may not always be the main requirement in your home theatre, especially if the space is smaller and the sound does not need to travel. However, if you would prefer a clearer and more dominant sound, or require it for your large space, speakers are a must. Some of the best market-leading loudspeaker brands include Bose, JBL, and Sonos and it is important to note that different speakers offer different features so, do your research before investing in a sound system.

Paint color

Light color choices are a complete no-no when it comes to your living room theatre space. Anyone and I hope that’s everyone reading this article, has had a cinematic experience within a leading movie theatre chain such as Cineworld, AMC or Cinemark, etc. Therefore, you will understand the color scheme within the viewing space. Cinemas tend to portray dark color schemes such as dark browns, greys, burgundy, red, or black, as the light from the TV screen or projector will project better against a dark surrounding. Not only does this better the overall viewing experience, however, but this color scheme can also set a great overall ambiance. Home theatres tend to be a relaxing, warm and comforting environment, so it would only be right to avoid bright colors and patterns when attempting to set a certain mood and atmosphere.
