Why Organization is Key to Relieving Moving Day Stress

If you are soon to be moving onto pastures new, the chances are that the jitters have already set in. What happens if your buyer pulls out? What if the sale money gets sent to the wrong account? What if the movers don’t turn up? You need to try and forget about the things that you don’t control and consider what is in your power to organize. By focusing on the aspects of moving day that is within your control, you can stay focused, relieve your stress, and find solace in a list. Making a list of what to do can have a calming effect.

Think of it as a problem shared is a problem halved. Writing down what you need to do can bring clarity and a newfound enthusiasm to get moving day sorted.

Packing

Start packing up your items well in advance of your moving day.

You know that you will be heading to a new pad within the next couple of months, so it pays to get a head start. Locate some strong double-walled boxes, brown tape, and packaging materials, and cushion your valuables and heirlooms before packing away.

If you aren’t au fait with packing up belongings, get the professionals in. A team of movers will utilize the highest quality packing materials to ensure that your precious cargo remains intact. Packing in advance will allow you to label up your boxes so that they can be transported to the most suitable room in the new house.

If you need to find something, you can do so quickly without rifling through all of your packed up stuff.

Storage

If you are moving out of your home and going into rented accommodation for a little while before your purchase completes, you might not want to take everything with you.

Consider a company like Lone Star Storage Trailers & Containers to provide you with a large container to rent. These onsite containers are secure, locked up, and will keep your belongings safe for as long as needed. Alternatively, you could use the kindness of friends and family to keep your belongings safe in a lock-up or garage.

The Day Itself

When moving day arrives and the removals company have set off with your goods, the monies have transferred successfully, and you are driving to your new pad, you might think that the day is over.

However, if your brood is not catered for, you might be at risk of a major car meltdown. You need to pack your own box full of stuff for your kids that you keep with you at all times. Have some games, a tablet, some healthy snacks, and portable DVD players. Keeping your little darlings occupied takes organization, but get it right and you won’t have to worry about tantrums.

If your older cherub isn’t keen on moving because they are scared of leaving what they know behind, talk with them. Give them plenty of time to get used to the idea and organize some visits back to visit their pals before you have even left.

Follow this guide and you will be organized come moving day, relieving stress and keeping the whole family happy.
