New Home, New Start: How to Make the Process of Moving a Simple One

The house that you currently live in seemed perfect when you chose to buy it, but now it’s just not right anymore. Maybe it’s the fact that when you purchased it you were a smaller family and now your family unit has expanded? Or perhaps it’s the fact that when you decided to invest your job was close by, but now you’ve ended up working somewhere else and having to commute a far further distance each day.

Whatever the reason for wanting to move to somewhere new, whether it’s needing extra space or wanting to be closer to work or your children’s school, the process can seem like an exceedingly stressful one. Moving house is not exactly an enjoyable experience, is it? However, just because moving house can be stressful, that doesn’t mean it has to be – how stressful the experience is depends on how it is organized.

Bearing that in mind, below are a few useful tips and pieces of advice that should help to keep the moving process as simple as possible. (You can make moving house easier, it’s just a case of understanding the best hacks to take advantage of.)

Make selling your home easier

One of the most difficult parts of moving house is actually the process of selling your home. When it comes to selling up and finding a new home, there’s a lot that you need to think about and consider, and it can make things seem exceedingly complex.

The good news is that selling your home can be made simpler, there are plenty of companies available that offer quick sales on properties, such as, for instance.

By choosing to use a company that offers a fast sale of your property, you can make the moving process far simpler and more enjoyable to manage.

Be organized

When it comes to moving house, one of the worst mistakes that you can make – especially when you have children in tow – is to fail to deal with the situation in an organized way.

If you are going to make the process of moving house easier, then you need to take an organized approach to things and make sure that you prepare for your move in advance.

What you don’t want to do is leave things until the last minute and end up stressing out as a result. It’s far better to start off sooner rather than later, ensuring that you’re able to manage your move in a more organized way.

You might find that setting yourself to-do lists to complete organized by weeks might be helpful.

For instance, nine weeks before your move you might want to book a removal company, eight weeks before your move you might want to start decluttering your home, five weeks before your move you might want to begin packing your boxes up, and two weeks before your move you might want to start on the deep cleaning.

Master the art of packing

Another extremely stressful aspect of moving house is often the process of actually packing up your home. It’s just so overwhelming, isn’t it? There’s just so much that you need to think about, and it’s easy to become stressed out and overwhelmed.

While you could always opt to hire a professional packing company, if that’s not something that you feel comfortable doing, then it might be a good idea to consider how you can make coping with packing a little easier and less stressful.

One of the best ways to deal with packing is to focus on one room at a time, to help prevent the process from becoming too overwhelming.

It can also be helpful to make sure that you have a system in place when it comes to boxes and how you label them. What you want to make sure is that each box is not only labeled with what is inside it but also the name of the room where it belongs.

This helps to make the process of unpacking at the other end a little easier and less stressful because you can put each box in the room that it belongs in.

Overlap properties

If you are able to, it’s a good idea to overlap the move out date of your old property with the move-in date of your new property. That way, you can move between the two properties and make your move as slow and stress-free as possible.

Aim to leave at least a week between having to vacate your old property after you move into your new property. This means that dealing with things like the deep cleaning, for instance, doesn’t have to be as stressful as it could be.

Because you have the time to head back to your old home and deep clean it once you’ve moved everything into your new home.

Get the kids taken care of

Moving house with young children is a complete and utter nightmare, which is why it’s a good idea to consider having the little ones taken care of while you move.

Whether you simply send them to their grandparents or to a friend’s house for the day or you send them to stay with a family member for a few days, it’s up to you. You need to think about what’s best for you and your little ones.

However, you will find that the process of moving house is far easier if you are in a position to focus purely on moving house, rather than having to worry about your little ones and what they are doing. That’s why it’s worth finding someone to watch your little ones while you move to make th eprocess a little simpler and easier for everyone.

The process of moving house is no easy task, however, it doesn’t have to be a complete and utter nightmare. If you are able to get how you approach moving easier, you should find that you can make moving to a new home a little more enjoyable and less stressful for you and your family.
