6 Ways to Treat Yourself Without Breaking the Bank

It is good to treat yourself on occasion, after all, you work hard for it.  A good rule of thumb is to spend no more than half of your salary on the mortgage and bills, another 20% on investments such as your 401k or savings, and then use the other 30% to have fun with.  Here are six great ways to treat yourself without breaking the bank.

A Weekend Break

Whether you want to head off to the beach, the mountains, or visit a city you have never been to before, a weekend break can help you relax and recharge your batteries.

A break from your everyday life is a fantastic way to treat yourself and it will give you something to look forward to without breaking the bank. Look for a last-minute break to maximize the chance of scoring a decent saving.

A Staycation

It may not have occurred to you to treat yourself by staying close to home but there are probably some great hidden gems right by your house that you have always wanted to check out but never got around to.

This happens because these locations are so close you can go any time and don’t have to take a special vacation to get to, meaning you have probably been overlooking them for years.  Take a staycation and go walking in the park and dine at a new restaurant.

You will feel as if you have been away without the need to travel.

Tech-Free Time

Having tech-free time may seem a little odd at first but it is a great way to treat yourself.

You are no longer chained to your computer or phone and you can take some time out just for yourself without worrying about the stresses of everyday life or thinking about who might be about to encroach on your time.

Whether you read a book, go for a hike, or just have a lie-in, turn off the tech while you do it and you will feel like you have had a real treat that doesn’t even need to cost you any money.

Golf

If golf is your thing then getting out and hitting some balls with your buddies can be a great way to unwind after a long week at work.  You may have been putting it off for a while if your life has become a little crowded recently but give yourself some time on the golf course and you will really see the benefits.

You can treat yourself to a variety of accessories to help you improve and enjoy your game. You will certainly see the benefits of all that fresh air and exercise, and you can even treat yourself to a beer in the clubhouse afterward.

Fancy indoor golf? Use a virtual golf simulator with your friends and enjoy playing this sport at the comfort of your home.

Dinner

Nothing beats a good meal, especially if you don’t have to cook it.

Treat yourself to a good dinner and use the opportunity to catch up with some friends that you might not have seen for a while.  Good company and a relaxed atmosphere are a fantastic combination to treat yourself with.

Learn Something New

Whether you have always wanted to learn a new language, a sport, or perhaps a new skill, learning something new is a wonderful way to treat yourself without breaking the bank.

You can impress your friends, family, or even your boss once you have had a little bit of practice.   It is also a good opportunity to invest in yourself and indulge in a little ‘me’ time.

You know you deserve a treat.  Now all you have to do is decide which option you want to treat yourself with.
