I did a lot of research before we bought our last (used) car and figured it might help others to see what I learned so I’m glad you find it helpful! I think most folks just trade in their car at the dealer both because it’s quick and easy but also because most people are financing their cars and thus don’t really look at the dollars involved, especially the dollars they are losing. Others probably are just unclear on what steps need to be taken to sell a car to an individual (although that info per state is easily Googled). Others still might be cautious about excepting large payments from strangers and either being concerned about counterfeiting or bad checks. In that case meeting at their bank and getting (and then cashing) a cashier’s check right from the teller clears that up).
