It’s not hard to see why these games are so popular; they are incredibly engaging, challenging, and rewarding. The great thing about exercise is that there are a variety of different ways in which you can get it. For many, they choose to play a sport that they’re passionate about, something like soccer or tennis. However, you don’t have to be sports fanatic to become an exercise lover. 

Joining your local gym is a fantastic way to exercise and improve your physique. With the opportunity to exercise as part of a group or to do your own thing, there’s no reason that it can’t be enjoyable. As for so many others, I guarantee that you will become addicted to the endorphin rush that the gym can provide. 

Alternatively, a brisk walk represents a great way to get your steps in. Not only is it a great form of exercise, but it also provides an opportunity to reduce stress and decompress. 

As alternatives to video games go, Exercise would be definitely near the top of my list.

I don’t know about you, but I believe that there aren’t many better things than becoming engrossed in a thrilling book. When you find a book that you really enjoy, putting it down can prove to be a real struggle. 

There is a myriad of benefits associated with reading, even for only a few minutes every day. Along with reducing your overall stress levels and blood pressure, reading will enable you to acquire new knowledge, gradually expand your vocabulary and gain a better command of your language. 

There is a common misconception that reading is a hobby that can only be enjoyed by nerds who hang out in the library all day. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that, I can assure you that this couldn’t be further from the truth. Think about your favorite passion, and no matter what it is, I can guarantee you there will be countless books written on the topic.  


A lot of us who regularly play video games do so for the sense of achievement and gratification that comes with succeeding in a competitive environment. However, unless you happen to be a professional gamer, these victories have absolutely no benefit for our day-to-day lives. 

So, when discussing what to do instead of gaming, I would highly recommend that you set aside some time for self-improvement. This might sound quite cheesy, but rest assured that it isn’t the case. 

It’s a basic concept; you set aside some time devoted to becoming better at something. This means that every day you will be better at something than you were just yesterday. 

So, what exactly should you do with this time? Well, the brilliant thing about it is that the only limit to what you can do is your imagination. It could be anything that will be beneficial for either your professional life or your personal life. You could learn how to code, or you could learn the trombone. Ultimately the choice is yours.

There is a range of different causes that a person can volunteer for. For instance, I’m an animal lover through and through, so I’ve spent a lot of time volunteering at my local animal shelters. There’s no reason that you can’t do the same, and it doesn’t matter what your chosen cause is. 


Video games are great, nobody is disputing that. Nevertheless, life is very boring if you spend all of your recreational time doing one activity. When it comes to the question of what to do instead of video games, it turns out that there are a variety of different alternatives.
