5 Interesting Ways To Give Up Smoking

It’s a well-known fact that smoking is generally bad for you. It causes all kinds of health problems, and some of them could even shorten your life. Plus, other people might not like breathing in your cigarette smoke as you enjoy a smoking break.

One of the problems with quitting smoking is that it’s quite challenging to do. Many long-term smokers can’t give up “cold turkey,” and others seem to relapse. You’re likely reading this because you want to quit, but don’t know of an excellent way to do it.

Did you know there are a plethora of different ways to give up smoking that work? Take a look at these five interesting examples for inspiration and to help you with your cause:

1. Smoke something else without tar and nicotine

Most people know that cigarettes contain tar and nicotine, among other ingredients.

Tar provides most of the flavor but is also the leading reason some smokers get lung cancer. Nicotine is the substance that makes smoking addictive, hence why it’s not easy to quit.

You might not realize it. But, it’s possible to smoke other things without tar and nicotine in them. Herbal cigarettes are one alternative, and there’s also marijuana – but it’s worth mentioning both examples may not be legal where you live.

2. Vape instead of smoke

One of the more natural transitions from smoking is vaping.

In a nutshell, this is where you use a vaporizer to inhale flavored nicotine vapor. One of the benefits of vaping is that you can consume vapor that has low levels of nicotine. Plus, they don’t contain any harmful tar.

There are many different options for vaporizers on the market, such as those created by well-known names like Daniel Fung. Be sure to choose a device that best meets your needs and budget.

3. Hypnotherapy

There’s no denying that hypnotherapy is a proven way to help people overcome their fears and troubles in life. Hypnotherapy gets used for various reasons, such as dealing with stress and anxiety, and, of course, giving up smoking.

It’s worth having a few hypnotherapy sessions with a registered and qualified therapist. It might surprise you to find out that you can subconsciously control your nicotine cravings and eventually give up smoking entirely.

4. Go off-grid for a few weeks

Believe it or not, the “cold turkey” approach does work for some long-term smokers!

But, it can only work in an environment where there is no temptation to get back to smoking. One of the ways to go cold turkey is by going off-grid for a few weeks.

That means spending time away from work, friends, and family, and retreating to an isolated location. Some people find that spending a lot of time alone helps them think things through and deal with the issues that led them to start smoking in the first place.

5. Transform your lifestyle with healthy eating and exercise

Lastly, you could try to substitute bad habits like smoking with good ones such as healthy eating and exercise. Some smokers find the reason they puff away each day is simply down to an unbalanced diet, and lack of nutrients and vitamins.
