Remote Work as an Opportunity for the Disabled

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a few positive changes. Before it emerged, companies were reluctant to employ home-based workers. Remote working did not make sense to them until the Coronavirus pandemic came. One of the efforts companies made to control the virus was to let some of their workers serve remotely. It allowed disabled people to work from home and earn money. Remote Working is more Flexible

Without having to travel to make some money, these people are enjoying the most flexible working conditions. They don’t have to drive or catch a train every morning. They don’t even have to prepare for work. Nobody cares about their neatness. At the end of each day, employed remote workers should deliver quality results. 

With a flexible working hour’s pattern, people with special needs can better care for themselves and their families. They can also sleep better to enhance their productivity and creativity during business hours.

As normal people without disabilities are also working remotely during the Corona era, disabled people should feel normal. They don’t need to feel as if they are receiving special treatment for being disabled. Working remotely is the new normal now.

Whether you are sick, disabled or healthy, you will have to work from home until the Corona epidemic ends. 

Any person who has been made redundant by diseases or a disability doesn’t have to anymore. Employers have also benefited from offering flexible working hours to remote workers. They have seen productivity levels rise, and this could be partly due to people receiving enough sleep and achieving their work-life balance. 

Enhanced Mental Health

Normal working that entails staying in the office from 8 am to 5 pm, or longer is hectic for disabled people. Getting ready for work in the morning and arriving in their workplaces on time is challenging enough. Some disabled people have mobility issues and need assistance to access their workstations. which sometimes makes them feel discomfort or prejudice. Thus, it would be better if the company promoted workplace discrimination advocates to make them feel safe and equal. With all these stressful conditions removed, these people can enjoy better mental health.

It has been made possible by Covid-19, thankfully. 

Disabled or very sick people don’t have to be absent from work and feel stressed out about it. All they have to do is to organize their time and decide when they can be most productive. They should also choose where to work and how to be more productive. 

And if disabled people can be sober during work, they can produce excellent results and benefit their companies. Additionally, companies can enjoy better work culture, increased staff retention, and happier employees.

Remote working seems to benefit both the disabled worker and their employer.

Thus, employers should strive to help a disabled home-based worker. They should request their employees to talk about their special needs and everything they may require to be efficient and productive. In conclusion, employers should offer their disabled remote workers flexible work hours and trust that they will do their best to deliver wonderful results.
