The 4th of July is a fun time to celebrate with family and friends, and what better way to get your kids involved? With that in mind, here are 25 of my favorite 4th of July crafts for toddlers.
These projects are simple to follow and will get little hands busy while making some festive decorations for your holiday celebration.
Star-Spangled Handprint Flags
Grab white construction paper or canvas for your base. Help your child press their blue-painted hand in the upper left corner. This creates the blue field for stars.
Make straight red handprints across the rest of the paper for stripes. Let it dry completely.
Use a small fingertip dipped in white paint to add stars to the blue area. Hang the finished flag on your front door or fridge!
Patriotic Paper Plate Wreaths
Cut out the middle of a paper plate leaving a ring about 2 inches wide. Let your toddler paint the ring blue or glue blue paper around it.
Cut small strips of red and white paper about 3 inches long. Show your child how to fold each strip in half and glue the ends to the back of the wreath. The folded strips will stick out like ruffles.
Add star stickers or paper stars on top. Punch a hole and hang with ribbon!
Firecracker Rockets from Toilet Paper Rolls
Paint toilet paper rolls red or wrap with red paper. Cut triangles from blue paper for the rocket tops.
Glue these pointy cones to one end of each roll. Cut 6-inch strips of tissue paper in red, white, and blue.
Tape or glue these strips inside the bottom of the roll so they hang out like flames. Your child can add star stickers or draw designs with markers.
Sparkly Patriotic Slime
Pour 1/2 cup clear glue into a bowl. Add 3 drops blue food coloring and mix.
Sprinkle in red and silver glitter – about a tablespoon of each. In a separate cup, mix 1/4 cup water with 1/2 teaspoon borax powder until dissolved.
Pour the borax water into the glue while stirring. It will get thick fast! Knead with hands until not sticky.
Firework Art with Shaving Cream
Spray shaving cream onto a cookie sheet in a thin layer. Drop red and blue food coloring onto the shaving cream.
Let your child swirl the colors gently with a toothpick. Don’t mix too much or it turns purple!
Press white paper onto the shaving cream and lift straight up. Scrape off excess cream with a ruler to reveal the swirled pattern.
Fourth of July Confetti Launchers
Decorate a toilet paper tube with markers or paper in red, white, and blue. Cut a circle from tissue paper slightly bigger than the tube end.
Stretch the tissue over one end and secure with a rubber band. Make sure it’s tight but has a little give.
Fill the open end with confetti or tiny paper scraps. Push up quickly on the tissue end to launch the confetti into the air!
DIY Red, White, and Blue Necklaces
Making red, white, and blue necklaces is a fun craft for kids of all ages. Using beads in patriotic colors, this activity helps develop fine motor skills while getting everyone in the spirit of freedom for the 4th of July. Itโs a simple way to create perfect decorations for your front door or a festive July parade!
Handmade Patriotic Banners
Cut triangles from red, white, and blue construction paper. Make them all the same size for a neat look.
Help your toddler glue the triangles along a piece of string or ribbon, leaving space between each one.
Let them decorate with star stickers or glitter glue. Hang your banner across windows, doorways, or along a fence for festive flair!

These star-shaped cookies are a fun and tasty way to celebrate Americaโs birthday! Let your little ones decorate with red, white, and blue icing for a festive touch. This easy fourth of July craft is a great way to involve kids of all ages in the July celebrations.
Fourth of July Glitter Jars
Fill a plastic bottle 1/3 full with water. Add blue food coloring and stir.
Add 2 tablespoons of red glitter and 1 tablespoon of white glitter. Pour in 3 tablespoons vegetable oil.
Fill remaining space with clear corn syrup. Seal the lid with super glue (adult job). Shake to create swirling patriotic colors!
Bubbly Fireworks Painting
Mix equal parts washable paint and dish soap in small cups. Add a bit of water to thin it slightly.
Give your child straws to blow into the mixture. The bubbles will rise up and over the cup.
Press white paper gently on top of the bubbles. When lifted, the bubble impressions look like firework bursts!
DIY Star Window Clings
Mix 1/4 cup white school glue with 10 drops of dish soap. Add red or blue food coloring if desired.
Place wax paper over star templates. Trace the mixture onto the wax paper using a squeeze bottle or spoon.
Let dry completely for 24-48 hours. Peel carefully from wax paper and press onto windows. They stick without glue and peel off easily later.
Flag-Themed Cupcake Toppers
Cut small rectangles from blue construction paper. Draw white stars with a paint pen or glue tiny star stickers.
Cut red and white strips for the stripes section. Glue all pieces together to form mini flags.
Attach these flags to toothpicks or popsicle sticks. Stick them into cupcakes just before serving!

Swirl colors gently with a toothpick. Let sit for 4-6 hours, then rinse until water runs clear. Wash separately the first time.
Patriotic String Art
Draw a simple star shape on cardboard or foam board. Push pushpins or small nails around the outline, spacing them about 1/2 inch apart.
