Rules of Poker

The basic rules of poker dictate that there are five different types of hands. A poker hand is typically a combination of five cards ranked from highest to lowest value.

The Royal flush is the highest possible value and consists of the ace, king, queen, jack, and ten of the same suit. The Straight flush contains the same suit in sequence. Four of a Kind is the next rank, it is a set of cards of the same value and paired with any card of any value.

The Full house consists of three cards of the same value, as well as two more cards of another value. A Flush is a poker hand with all the same suit, but not all in sequence. Straight is five cards not all in the same suit but in sequence.

How To Place A Bet

The call is the most basic bet and you’re matching the current bet. The fold is giving up your hand and taking yourself out of the ongoing round of betting. The check is you’re choosing not to bet, but you’re still in the hand and the raise means you’re raising your bet.

Where to Play Poker

You can play poker games in private homes and in a famous online casino. Many online sites offer poker games but make sure to do your research before choosing one. Some sites are better than others, and you’ll want to make sure you’re playing at a reputable site that offers fair games.

Bluffing and Winning

Poker is a game plan and bluffing is an important part of it. Bluffing can win you a hand when you might otherwise have lost. It can also help you keep players from stealing pots when they might otherwise have won.

The goal is to trick your opponents into thinking you have a better hand and to get them to bet more money.

Chips and Table Stakes

You must have chips to play with. There are different poker chip colors and values.  Table stakes are the rules that you can only bet the poker chips on hand.

This means that you cannot borrow chips from other players or bet more than you have.
